Counselling & Psychotherapy in Bristol
For Individuals and Couples
John Hardy BA. MA. Dip. Couns. MSc Psychological Counselling & Psychotherapy (Roehampton Institute, London)
Counselling and psychotherapy offer the opportunity to explore emotional or psychological difficulties with someone who is trained not to judge, but to help you understand your feelings, or what is happening, and perhaps come to your own decisions about what to do. There is no attempt to persuade you to do or say anything you don’t want to. You may talk about anything you wish, no matter how big, trivial, ‘wrong’ or unusual you may consider it.
There are no rules about who counselling and therapy is for. People of all ages and backgrounds may find themselves seeking counselling or therapy, and for a wide variety of reasons. You may be upset or distressed, having problems with feelings or thoughts, relationships with others, or your own behaviour. Crises of all kinds may result in you finding it difficult to cope emotionally; alternatively you may be distressed and not know why. Counselling may be able to help you find a different perspective and understand what’s happening to you. It may also be that you just want the opportunity to learn more about yourself, to explore your feelings and thoughts.
